Multi-head

Multi-head split systems for several rooms

One outdoor unit runs two or more indoor heads, so several rooms can be conditioned without the ductwork a full ducted upgrade needs.

What multi-head involves

Each room gets its own indoor unit and its own thermostat, all run from one outdoor condenser. That keeps the outside of the house tidier than several separate systems, and lets each room be set independently.

It suits homes where ducting isn’t practical — a renovation, an addition, or a floor plan that doesn’t lend itself to roof-space ductwork. Part of our heating and cooling range.

Why there’s no headline figure here

Replacing eligible old systems with an approved high-efficiency multi-head setup can attract a Victorian Energy Upgrades discount — but it isn’t a fixed amount or a set percentage. It depends on the approved product, the activity and the current certificate factor.

We confirm whether your job qualifies, and what the discount is worth, before you agree to anything.

Not a government program, and not run by us. We do not work for the Victorian Government, and the activity and any products are supplied by private providers, not by or on behalf of the Government. Participation in the Victorian Energy Upgrades scheme is voluntary.

NRGPAL is not a VEU accredited provider — it is a scheme participant, carrying out approved upgrades on behalf of accredited providers. The accredited provider for your job is named in your paperwork.

The program’s code of conduct, dispute resolution process and consumer factsheet are all set out on our VEU Consumer Information page, along with what to do if something goes wrong.

FAQ

Common questions

Can’t see yours?

Ask us directly

How many rooms can one outdoor unit run?

Typically two to five indoor heads, depending on the outdoor unit’s capacity and the size of the rooms. We size it to your home rather than the maximum the equipment allows.

Can each room be set to a different temperature?

Yes — each indoor head runs independently, so one room can be cooling while another is off.

Is multi-head better than several separate split systems?

Usually more efficient and tidier outside, since it’s one outdoor unit rather than several. The trade-off is that if the outdoor unit needs attention, it affects every room on it.

Not sure how many heads you need?

How many rooms, how they’re used, and where the outdoor unit can go all affect the right setup. A short conversation settles it faster than guessing.
